July Tips

Divide iris clumps now. Deadhead and clean up spring flowering perennials.
Last chance to treat your lawn with Grubex for season-long grub control .
Petunias may become leggy and need to be cut back. Cut to 4-6 inches high. Be sure to fertilize and keep evenly moist .
Recently planted trees & shrubs need deep watering (a soaking rain or 30-40 minutes of hose watering) every week.
Fertilize annuals every other week to get the most blooms. Try Wallace's Bloom & Grow Fertilizer with the formulation of 10-54-10.
July 1st pinch back mums to 6". This should be the last pinch of the season.
Raise mower height to 3" to promote healthy turf grass.
Dry flowers now for arrangements. Early season blooms are better for drying than those that bloom in late summer.
