July Tips
• Divide iris clumps now. Deadhead and clean up spring flowering perennials.
• Last chance to treat your lawn with Grubex for season-long
grub control .
• Petunias may become leggy and need to be cut back. Cut to 4-6 inches high. Be sure to fertilize and keep evenly
moist .
• Recently planted trees & shrubs need deep
watering (a soaking rain or 30-40 minutes of hose watering) every week.
• Fertilize annuals every other week to get the most blooms.
Try Wallace's Bloom & Grow Fertilizer with the formulation of
10-54-10.
• July 1st pinch back mums to 6". This should be the last pinch of the season.
• Raise mower height to 3" to promote healthy turf grass.
• Dry flowers now for arrangements. Early season blooms are
better for drying than those that bloom in late
summer. |
